The development of artificial intelligence (AI), especially generative AI, has changed the strategic environment of educational institutions by affecting the learning process, knowledge management, decision-making, administration, human resource competency development, and institutional governance. These changes not only present the problem of technology adoption, but also require a redefinition of educational leadership to be able to direct transformation ethically, humanely, adaptively, and sustainably. This research aims to analyze the construction of Islamic education leadership that is relevant to the AI era and formulate its implications for the strategic transformation of educational institutions. The research uses a library research approach by examining peer-reviewed journal articles, systematic reviews, policy documents, international institution reports, and relevant academic literature, especially 2019-2025 publications, accompanied by the necessary fundamental sources. The analysis was carried out through source selection, thematic categorization, conceptual comparison, critical analysis, and cross-literature synthesis. The results of the study show that Islamic education leadership in the AI era needs to shift from administrative-technological orientation to transformational-humanistic leadership that integrates strategic vision, AI literacy, ethical governance, human capacity development, data-driven decision-making, collaboration, and prophetic values such as amanah, siddiq, tabligh, and fathanah. AI should not be positioned as a substitute for humans, but as a supporting technology that is under the control of values, educational goals, and human accountability. The research resulted in a conceptual synthesis in the form of the AI-Human-Centered Islamic Educational Leadership Framework as a framework for the strategic transformation of Islamic educational institutions.
